WINTER BLOG (by D Morello) 12/12/23- Well, usually the weather trends toward a colder, snowier version of Big Bear. However, as this season continues to move from late fall into early winter, we’ve noticed that there is a lack of potential storms tracking towards the area. This COULD change, but so far the longterm forecast seems to be pessimistic in terms of snow. Luckily, all 3 of our local ski resorts are OPEN as of last week, and the skiers and snowboarders are at least able to stretch their legs on some manmade snow. Folks are coming up are looking for alternatives to playing in the snow. When you’re up in Big Bear on vacation, you tend to allow your mind to finally calm, your breath to deepen, taking in the peace & quiet of the mountains. As the stress starts to melt off, you feel your worries float away and realize what you came here to do. Should you go for a hike to reconnect with nature…..YES! Should you look up at the night sky and try to name off as many constellations as you can…OF COURSE! Should you optimize your time in Big Bear by scheduling a healing massage therapy session with one of the best massage therapists around….BINGO!!! AUTUMN BLOG (by D Morello) 10/5/23-The fall season is officially upon us in Big Bear Lake, California! Even if you are a die-hard summer celebrator, everyone has a little room in their hearts for the wonders of autumn. The air is cooling. The days are shorter. The trees begin their annual transformation. We start to pull out our fav flannels and comfy boots. The scene will soon change, especially in the mountains, where it already has! The maples are FIRE! Oaks are changing, and soon poplar, cottonwood, birch & aspen will follow. Spectacular!

In the spirit of seeing change & feeling change, I wanted to remind everyone of the amazing benefits that await you after a massage therapy session with one of our massage therapists. The calming and unwinding you feel after just 10 minutes of massage is all the evidence you’ll need to know you are here for a reason, and that reason is to give back to yourself. We can sometimes forget how important it is for us to have bodywork, because the benefits you receive from a great massage can be day…week…month….year….even life changing!

How do I know this? I just had a massage about 3 days ago, and let me tell you….I FEEL GREAT! I slept better than I have been over the past month, have more energy during the day, have had improved sports performance, increased mental clarity, and less pain in the areas that needed extra work (in my case, the forearms and my neck/shoulders). What is even more awesome than that is the massage therapist (you’ll see her name mentioned frequently in our Yelp and Google reviews) found and worked out areas like my hamstrings that I wasn’t aware were so tight and bound up. I hadn’t had a massage in over 3 months, so I was waaaay over due.

Usually, “A Massage A Month” is the proper goal, and that is what we recommend for our clients in most cases. For us in Big Bear, the autumn is a slower time typically and getting caught up on things is imperative, even more so if you factor the pending winter season into the equation. I think autumn is a slower time for others all around, you can just feel it in the air. So, what better time to enjoy getting caught up on your massage therapy! Trust me, I am so glad to have had a recent massage, the rebalancing was superb! It is like having your “reset button” pressed, where you have all the junk and stress that weighs you down just slowly evaporate during your relaxing massage.

I hope this blog inspires you to reach out to us or your local massage therapist to schedule a massage ASAP! Write it down on a sticky note, put an alarm on your phone, or just drive to your local spa to make it happen. It’s something that you deserve and you will be happy you did! And while you are there, it doesn’t hurt to make a future appointment or “scheduled maintenance” as we sometimes call it. Thank you for reading our most recent blog, and hope to hear from you soon!

Cheers to your health! -Daniel

Don’t forget, we also offer “GIFT CERTIFICATES” for all of our massage services! It only takes a few minutes to send the perfect gift to your favorite people!

FROZEN SHOULDER:

August 8, 2023

Brrrrr! Frozen Shoulder isn’t actually “frozen” yet once you have experienced this issue you’ll most likely have pain and lack of mobility in the shoulder joint due to swelling that causes stiffness, thus causing the shoulder to “freeze up”. Massage and trigger point therapy are both excellent methods at alleviating pain and assisting in improved mobility. The focused bodywork we provide can “thaw” the shoulder and help you regain a higher quality of life! There are even more muscles that can get unrelaxed due to stress, injury or repetitive motion in the shoulder and neck areas as well, sometimes even so tense they form “trigger points” that can cause muscles to weaken and develop referral or referred pain thatch affect other areas of the body.

The good news is that those trigger points are usually easy to assess via specific techniques know simply as “Trigger Point Therapy”, which involve holding individual points via thumb or elbow pressure for a certain amount of time until a change in the muscle has been indicated. Sometimes this feels like a small muscle spasm or a quick flexing of the muscle, and results in the area relaxing back to normal function.

Sometimes just one or two sessions is all that is needed to experience significant relief from pain that may have lasted for years prior. Just give us a call to ask one of our pain relief specialists what we can do for you! We are here to help you live your best life-give us a call or text today at (909) 800-8103 or check out our website for client testimonials.
